Life can be amazing at times but on other occasions, things can get rocky. When this transpires, it often propels the need for some sort of change or improvement within ourselves or our environment (if possible). We sit down, we evaluate, we plan and we action. That improvement eventually comes into fruition, we are seemingly more content and so it goes. You know the drill!
But what happens after this? OR what are we doing during the process to help others? Do we take the time to share our process and experience with others? While it is appreciable when we can actually come to terms with our reality and take time to refuel, improve and love ourselves better, it’s also amazing to share our process on how we got from point A to B with others.
So why is it so important and so valuable for us to share our process with one another?
1. MOTIVATION & INSPIRATION TO OTHERS
Your experience on how you got through – or are still working through – your own struggles can help motivate and inspire someone else who may be going through the same things you are or did. It’s not about bragging but rather, helping others and reminding them that they are not alone in their own period of struggle.
The truth is, life is made up of a lot of crap sometimes and that crap does not discriminate – everyone is vulnerable to it because it is an inevitable, common feature of life. We may suffer through it differently but everyone will go through it at some point.
Do not be afraid to talk about how you got yourself out – or are still getting yourself out – of that rot or hard time. Help others by sharing your story so that they too, can persevere and get through their own struggles.
2. TESTIFYING CAN HELP YOU DURING YOUR STRUGGLE
We may not necessarily be totally out of our funk but rather, in a better place. TESTIFY ANYWAY! Not only would it help others but it will help you. How? Sometimes talking about what we are going through helps to get out that built up tension and stress we may be experiencing at the time.
I am not saying to go around telling every Tom, Dick and Jane about your issues and to be a “woe is me” but having a trustworthy person to confide in, ever so often, is healthy.
In the mist of your own issues you may think that you are alone in all the chaos and no one else is going through it like you or can help you – in which case you are terribly WRONG. Speaking out about your issues actually attracts support that you will need from others. This is beneficial in moments where you may feel like giving up on yourself or perhaps, being too hard on yourself whilst trying to work through your situation.
Just be careful of who you go to – not everyone is genuine at heart.
3. HOW FAR YOU HAVE COME VS. HOW FAR YOU STILL HAVE TO GO
In sharing your process or journey with others – either while you are still getting there or not – you would often realize how much improvement you have made. This in itself is a feedback mechanism to help you come to terms with the fact that even though you may not be quite where you want to be, you definitely improved in little and/or big ways.
Remember that you are not perfect and neither is anyone else. Use every bit of your life experience, good and bad, as your tool to make you stronger and more resilient as an individual. Life gets tough and it is sometimes difficult to be optimistic all the time. Choose to be more aware of the perspective you hold on things because it may not be as bad as you may think.
You are human and this is real life! Stop being so hard on yourself and stay encouraged.
